Schema Generator
This guide explains what the Schema Generator does, how to use it, and how it's metered.
What the Schema Generator Creates
Schema markup gives search engines clear information about a business, including its name, address, phone number, website, and opening hours.
Ranksphere creates this information in JSON-LD format, ready to add to the website. Schema can help Google understand the business and display its information correctly in search results.
The Schema Generator is available from the main workspace sidebar and can be used for any business, whether or not it has already been added as a location in Ranksphere.
Create a schema
- Open Schema Generator from the sidebar.
- Choose an existing Ranksphere location, search for the business on Google, or start with a blank form.
- Review the business information added from its Google listing.
- Update any missing or incorrect details.
- Add another location when the business has multiple branches.
- Review the markup as it updates on the right-hand side.
- Copy, download, or save the schema.
There is no separate generate button. The markup updates as you complete the form.
To add the schema to a website, copy the code and place it inside the website’s <head> section. You can also send the copied code to the person who manages the website.
Information included in the schema
Depending on the business and the details available, the schema can include:
- Business name and description
- Business type
- Address and map location
- Phone number
- Website
- Opening hours
- Photos
- Price range
- Rating
- Links to social profiles and other business pages
Ranksphere selects a suitable business type automatically, but you can change it when needed.
Additional fields may appear for certain businesses. For example:
- Restaurants and food businesses can include menu information.
- Businesses with several branches can include shared brand details to connect their locations.
Review and edit the business details
When you search for a business, Ranksphere adds the information available from its Google listing.
Check each field before using the schema, especially:
- Business name
- Address
- Phone number
- Website
- Opening hours
- Business type
You can edit any information that is missing, outdated, or incorrect.
The preview updates immediately when you make a change, so you can review the final markup before copying or saving it.
Check the schema before publishing
The preview shows whether the schema markup is valid and highlights helpful fields that have not been completed.
You can also select Test in Rich Results to open Google’s Rich Results Test and check the markup using Google’s official tool.
Some recommended fields are optional. Leaving one of these fields blank will not necessarily prevent the schema from working.
Save or download your schema
After reviewing the markup, you can:
- Copy the code
- Download the schema
- Save it to Generated schemas
Saving the schema makes it easier to find and update later.
Copying or downloading the markup does not use a schema build. A build is only counted when you save a new schema to the Generated schemas list.
Editing and saving changes to an existing schema does not use another build.
Schema builds included with each plan
Each workspace receives a monthly schema build allowance:
- Free trial — 1 schema build
- Starter — 5 schema builds per month
- Growth — 20 schema builds per month
- Agency — 50 schema builds per month
Your allowance resets at the beginning of each billing period.
You can check your remaining schema builds from:
Settings → Credit Usage
Buy additional schema builds
When you have used your monthly allowance, you can purchase an additional pack of 10 schema builds for $4.
Go to:
Settings → Billing → Add-ons
You can also move to a larger plan when you need a higher monthly allowance.
Schema Generator access
Workspace Owners, Admins, and Members can use the Schema Generator.
