Locations

Add and manage the business locations you want to track in Ranksphere. Each location keeps its own rankings, reviews, citations, Google Business Profile activity and reports.

How locations work

A location represents a business location you manage in Ranksphere.

Each location has its own business information and local SEO data, including rankings, reviews, citations, Google Posts and reports.

The number of locations you can add depends on your plan:

Paid plans can add more locations using the extra-location add-on. See Billing, Plans & Add-ons for more details.

Add a location

To add a location:

  1. Go to Locations and select Add location.
  2. Search for the business by name or address.
  3. Select the correct business from the results.
  4. Review the business information and complete any additional details.
  5. Select Add location.

Once added, the location will appear in your Locations list and you can begin setting up its rankings, reviews, citations and other features.

If the business cannot be found in the search results, check the business name and address and try again.

(Connecting directly through a Google account is coming soon. For now, searching for the business is all you need.)

What you can manage for each location

Each location has its own set of tools and data.

Overview

View a summary of the location, including recent activity and key information.

Rankings

Set up local rank tracking and review ranking results over time.

Google Business Profile

Manage supported business information and keep track of important profile details.

Reviews

View customer reviews and prepare responses.

Citations

Check business listings across directories and identify inaccurate, incomplete or duplicate information.

Google Posts

Plan, schedule and publish Google Posts for the location.

Smart Tasks

View recommended actions for rankings, reviews, profile information, citations and other areas that need attention.

Reports

Create and save reports for the location.

Team members can only access locations available to them based on their workspace role and permissions.See Users, Roles & Permissions.

Allocate scan credits

Scan credits are shared across the locations in a workspace.

You can decide how many credits each location can use. This can be useful when one location requires more frequent ranking scans than another.

To change a location's allocation, go to:

Settings → Credit Usage → Manage Allocation

Changes apply to the location immediately.

For more information about how scan credits are used, see Scan Credits.

Edit a location

Open the location and go to "Google Business Profile" tab to edit the business information saved in Ranksphere.

If information has changed on Google, refresh or reconnect the relevant details before making further updates.

Business information such as the name, address and phone number may also be managed through the Google Business Profile section when the profile is connected.

(Editing your Google listing directly from Ranksphere is coming soon.)

Pause a location

A location can be paused if you want to temporarily stop activity without removing it from the workspace.

While paused, scheduled activity for that location will stop until the location is reactivated.

The location and its existing data will remain saved.

If you no longer need the location, you can remove it instead.

Remove a location

Open the location settings and select Remove location.

Removing a location permanently removes the data connected to it from Ranksphere, including its scans, reports, reviews, citations and saved settings.

Removing a location from Ranksphere does not delete or change the business's Google Business Profile.

If the same business is added again later, it will be treated as a new location.

Run a one-time scan

Go to Scans > New Scan when you want to check a business's local ranking without adding it as a location.

Enter the business and keyword, choose the scan area and run the scan.

The scan provides a local ranking heatmap but does not create a permanent location in your workspace.

This is useful for quick checks, prospect research or businesses you do not need to manage regularly.

Location access by role

Workspace Owners and Admins can add, update, and remove locations. They can also access every location in the workspace.

Members can only access locations shared with them. They cannot add, update, or remove locations.

Guests have view-only access to the locations shared with them. They cannot add, update, or remove locations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I add another location?

You may have reached the location limit included with your current plan.

Check your current usage under Billing & Plans. If you need additional locations, you can upgrade your plan or add extra locations where available.

Why can’t my new location run a scan?

Check that the location has enough scan credits allocated to it.

Workspace Owners and Admins can review and change allocations from Settings → Credit Usage → Manage Allocation. See Scan Credits.

Will removing a location delete its Google Business Profile?

No. Removing a location only removes it and its saved data from Ranksphere. It does not delete, suspend or make changes to the Google Business Profile itself.

What is the difference between a location and a New Scan?

A location is added to your workspace for ongoing management. It can have rankings, reviews, citations, posts, reports and other saved information.

A New Scan is used for a one-time local ranking check without creating a location in the workspace.

Can I update a location’s Google categories?

Categories are taken from the business’s Google listing and cannot currently be changed directly from Ranksphere. Editing them from Ranksphere is coming soon.
