AI Credits
AI credits are used when Ranksphere generates or rewrites content for you. This guide explains which actions use credits, how many are included with your plan, and how to manage or purchase more.
How AI credits work
Each workspace receives a set number of AI credits based on its plan. Credits are used whenever you generate content or request AI Insights.
AI credits are separate from scan credits:
- AI credits are used for writing and AI Insights.
- Scan credits are used for local ranking scans.
Using one type of credit does not affect the other.
Actions that use AI credits
Most writing actions use 10 AI credits, including:
- Creating a Google Post
- Rewriting a Google Post
- Drafting a reply to a review
- Creating or rewriting a Google Business Profile description
AI Insights use 100 credits. This includes written summaries of ranking results in reports or keyword scans.
Credits are only deducted when the action is completed successfully. If Ranksphere cannot generate the content, you will not be charged.
What you get with each plan
Your credits refill at the start of each billing month.

\*Based on 10 credits per action. AI insights cost more (100 each), so they use more.
Allocate credits to your locations
AI credits are shared across the workspace. Workspace Owners and Admins can decide how many credits each location is allowed to use.
To update the allocation, go to:
Settings → Credit Usage → AI Credits → Manage Allocation
Set the amount available to each location and save your changes. This can help prevent one location from using the full workspace allowance.
Buy additional AI credits
Paid plans can purchase more AI credits from:
Settings → Billing → Add-ons
Credits cost $0.005 each, which is $5 for every 1,000 credits. You can purchase between 1,000 and 1,000,000 credits at a time.
Purchased credits are used after the credits included with your plan have run out.
Credit expiry and rollover
Credits purchased through Add-ons are valid for 30 days from the date of purchase. This period is separate from your usual billing cycle.
On Growth and Agency plans, 50% of any unused purchased credits will carry into the next 30-day period. On the Starter plan, unused purchased credits expire after 30 days.
Monthly plan credits follow a similar rule:
- Growth and Agency: 50% of unused monthly credits carry into the next billing period.
- Free trial and Starter: unused credits do not carry over.
Credits you have already used are never affected.
Access and permissions
Workspace Owners and Admins can:
- Use AI writing tools
- View and manage credit allocations
- Purchase additional credits (Admins need billing access, which the Owner turns on in Settings → Permissions)
Members can use AI tools for the locations shared with them, but they cannot change credit allocations or purchase more credits.
Guests cannot use AI writing tools.
When a location runs out of allocated credits, the action will stop before it begins. No credits will be deducted for an action that cannot be completed.
