Notifications
This guide explains where to find notifications, how to organize them, and how to choose which updates you receive. Keep track of important updates across the locations you manage.
View your notifications
The notification bell in the top navigation shows when something needs your attention.
A number beside the bell shows how many unread notifications you have. When there are more than nine, it displays 9+.
Select the bell to view recent updates or open the full notification inbox.
Notifications are personal to your account. Each user has their own inbox and only receives updates for locations they can access.
Manage your notification inbox
Notifications are grouped into Important and Other, then organized by date:
- Today
- Last 7 days
- Earlier
Unread notifications are marked so they are easy to identify.
Open the menu beside a notification to:
- Mark it as read or unread
- Clear it from your active inbox
Cleared notifications move to the Cleared tab. They are removed from your main inbox but are not permanently deleted.
From the Cleared tab, you can restore a notification or delete it permanently. You can also mark all notifications as read or clear the full inbox at once.
Selecting a notification takes you directly to the relevant location, review, report, scan, or other area of Ranksphere.
Choose which notifications you receive
Go to:
Settings → Notifications
Notification preferences are organized by area, including:
- Rankings and scans
- Reviews and posts
- Citations and reports
- Account and billing
- Summaries
Each notification type includes separate options for in-app and email updates.
In-app notifications are currently available. Email notifications are coming soon, but you can set your email preferences now so they are ready when the feature becomes available.
Notifications currently available
Ranksphere can currently notify you about updates such as:
- New reviews — When one of your locations receives a new Google review
- Citation drift — When information on a directory listing no longer matches the business details saved in Ranksphere
More notification types are being added. Your notification settings will let you choose which updates you want to receive as they become available.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does everyone in the workspace receive the same notifications?
No. Each user has their own notification inbox.
You will only receive notifications for locations and features you have permission to access.
Can I restore a notification I cleared by mistake?
Yes. Open the Cleared tab, find the notification, and select Restore.
Can I receive notifications by email?
Email notifications are coming soon.
For now, notifications appear inside Ranksphere through the notification bell and inbox. You can already set your email preferences from Settings → Notifications.
Why is my notification inbox empty?
You may not have any new updates.
New notifications will appear when there is activity for the locations you can access, such as a new review, a completed ranking scan, or a change that needs your attention.
What happens when I clear a notification?
Clearing removes it from your active inbox and moves it to the Cleared tab.
You can restore it later or delete it permanently.
Does marking a notification as read remove it?
No. Marking it as read only removes the unread indicator. The notification will remain in your inbox until you clear or delete it.
